This week we were joined in studio by Tom Wasinski, owner of Aerial Agents (www.aerialagents.com). Aerial Agents is Ohio’s premier aerial photography & videography company. As experts in UAS (unmanned aerial systems) or “drone” piloting, they specialize in capturing professional, high-quality aerial photographs and videos for our clients. Tom is also a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program (https://www.goldmansachs.com/citizenship/10000-small-businesses/US/) and he shared with us some of his key takeaways from that program in our monthly Goldman 10 for 10 segment which included how he was put in a lot of uncomfortable situations where he had to explain himself to strangers!
Tom’s entrepreneurial story dates back to some of his earliest childhood days which included everything from selling codes for the video game Mortal Kombat in grade school to a paper route to buying a truck at age 16 to plow snow to working as a photographer for weddings. He started his current business Aerial Agents a little over 6 years ago. Tom also had a lot of guidance and encouragement from his dad growing up who was doing a lot of entrepreneurial things as well. Perhaps the biggest impact on Tom was his experience at a local vocational school, Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, where he learned about digital design and got his hands on a digital camera for the first time. He became a kid who actually loved school!
Tom also shared some secrets to his success including reading tons of business books, taking massive action, and getting involved with Google Maps at an early stage to help promote his business. Tom had lots of great insights and you will definitely learn some great pearls of wisdom from tonight’s interview.
