In This Episode
This is a great question, and it all starts with figuring out where you want to go first and then we figure out which path to take to get there. And just like any good road trip there are multiple options for getting to your destination depending on what you’d like to see on the way or are you just interested in getting there as fast as possible? What about accidents, road work, and detours? Do you think similar things can be expected when you’re trying to get to your ultimate destination in your business? Of course!
One question we never stop asking ourselves or our clients is “what do you want to be when you grow up?” It’s something people have been asking us since our youth. Yet, our response to this question changes over the years as we gain more experience. That’s true in our businesses as well. Think back to the first day of business. What did you want to accomplish at that point? How long did it take to achieve those initial goals? How has your answer changed over the years as you’ve gained more experience as a business owner?
As you can imagine, this “what do you want to be when you grow up” question is something we encourage folks to revisit at least annually. Some years your answer will be “we’re all good and keep charging ahead” whereas other years you’ll be making minor tweaks or you may want to start from scratch. Whatever your answer, the key is to ask the question. Otherwise it’s very easy to get lost along the way. But remember, not all who wander are lost.
