In This Episode
This week we were joined in studio by Elisabeth Sapell of All City Candy (https://allcitycandy.com) who shared her story of jumping from the non-profit world into the business world to start her own company in 2013 after growing up with parents who were business owners. Elisabeth is also a graduate of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program (https://www.goldmansachs.com/citizenship/10000-small-businesses/US/) and shared her experience with the program as well!
During the show she shared many of the ups and downs for starting her own business which started with presenting 3 different business plans to the bank (their least favorite business was the candy store) to taking 18 months to find a landlord who would lease to her to having tremendous growth and success in her first 6+ years in business. Elisabeth also had many great quotes including, “I’d rather give child birth again” when asked if she’d like to apply for an SBA bank loan again and how “Life gets in the way of living!” Hear this and so many more great lessons from Elisabeth.
