In This Episode

Today we were joined on the show by entrepreneur and author Julie Phillippi-Whitney, owner of Phillippi-Whitney Communications and author of the children’s book Astra the Lonely Airplane.  During the show Julie shared her journey starting with her role as an extra in the movie Grease while in high school.

During her career Julie has worked in several industries including banking, advertising, hospitality, quasi-government visitor’s bureau, and local TV among others.  She eventually launched her own PR firm in 2000 and just recently became a published author.  To say the rules don’t apply to Julie is an understatement!

Along the way Julie has helped a lot of people, made a lot of friends, and found a couple of things that have really helped her on her journey.  These include:

  • Always staying in touch with people from your past (e.g. found her book publisher through a person she met on the set of Grease)
  • Being a rule breaker and making your own rules (e.g. became a job-share pioneer in 1996)
  • Acting as the “Great Connector” (e.g. people constantly emailing “Julie do you know anyone who?”)

We think you’ll enjoy listening to the Julie’s story and perhaps you’ll even be inspired to write that book you’ve been talking about for years!
